Request Bladewright’s expertise by contacting us through our appointments page or email, or give us a call by telephone. We will coordinate a time for us to meet you or pickup your items for sharpening or repair. Once we have enough info on your knives/tools (before your appointment, if possible) we will text or email you a preliminary estimate for the sharpening and repairs you requested. Once you accept it, we will proceed with repairs.
First, we check for any issues more complex than a standard sharpening will fix. We will fix and charge a small additional fee for simple/moderate fixes like the following:
Chips/nicks in cutting edge
Bent knife tips
Poor or unusable edge bevels
Inappropriate edge profiles or shapes
Obstructive bolsters
Swales or dysfunctional belly in a blade
If we find complicated or involved damage, we will notify you of the non-standard issues, repair options and costs, and what additional work you want us to perform. Examples of complicated problems includes warped or twisted blades; blades that need thinning of more than the primary cutting edge; loose or broken handles or knife scales; and cracks, breaks, or bends involving more than the knife tip/point.
After any repairs, we sharpen each knife to razor sharpness, and we hone and sharpen any other tools to a correct and sharp edge for its intended use. After the repair and sharpening is complete, we wipe down and lightly oil each knife, wrap it in paper to protect the honed edge, and send you an invoice to coordinate return delivery.
